Semaglutide and Tirzepatide Weight Loss in Middletown, RI
Matt’s Local Pharmacy is more than just your standard pharmacy; we are problem solvers committed to patient care and innovation. When we saw our patients’ challenges in accessing GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, Wegovy, Zepbound, and Mounjaro—whether due to shortages, high costs, or the risks of unregulated generics—we knew we had to act. We started our compounding program for weight loss, and lifestyle medications called Papilio to signify the beautiful transformations that can happen with time and care.
Instead of letting our patients resort to unsafe alternatives, we collaborated with trusted partners to develop a compounded mucoadhesive formulation containing Novo Nordisk Rybelsus® as our semaglutide ingredient. From there, we have created more partnerships with top compounding pharmacies in the country that provide high-quality, trusted ingredients to expand our offerings and product line. The result is a safe, effective, and affordable solution that empowers our patients to achieve their health and long-lasting weight-loss goals.
We take pride in delivering more than just prescriptions; we provide care and solutions that make a real difference. With Papilio, you can trust that your health and well-being are at the heart of everything we do.

SAfer
Goodbye to “off-market” injections from med spas. Goodbye to self-injections.
If you’re not using the brand name GLP-1 as your source of semaglutide, the semaglutide ingredient is not regulated and may be unsafe. If you purchase your medication without vetting the source or knowing what pharmacy is compounding it, you could be risking your health.
Papilio only uses the highest-quality ingredients, including brand-name and FDA-approved.
Rybelsus®, as the source of semaglutide for our semaglutide mucoadhesive films.
Please note: Using FDA-approved products as ingredients does not make any compound itself FDA-approved.
More Effective
In their standard form, Rybelsus® semaglutide tablets are 80% less effective than semaglutide injections.
The drugs bypass your digestive system by compounding the Rybelsus®, Semaglutide, or Tirzepatide into a mucoadhesive film, increasing the medication’s bioavailability and effectiveness compared to the standard Rybelsus® oral tablet dosage form.
Always Available
Have you struggled to get your GLP-1 prescriptions filled at any nearby pharmacy?
Welcome to the club.
Because of Papilio’s unique dosage form, Matt’s Local Pharmacy can readily provide your mucoadhesive films monthly, even when the brand names are removed from the FDA shortage list.

What is a Mucoadhesive Film?
All three medications are from the same manufacturer and contain the same main active pharmaceutical ingredient (semaglutide) – except Rybelsus, which is an oral tablet rather than an injection.
It may sound better, but an oral tablet is less effective because the medications pass through your digestive system and are broken down.
Some pharmacies may offer dissolving tablets or sublingual liquids rather than oral tablets. Still, these forms are also generally considered less effective than injections and less effective than a mucoadhesive dosage form, which allows for more sustained absorption through the mucosal lining.
Papilio began using FDA-approved Rybelsus tablets, making them an excellent powder and compounding them into a mucoadhesive film. Think of it like a Listerine strip dissolving on the inside of your cheek, bypassing your digestive system and maintaining an effective dose without an injection.

FAQS
This medication unfortunately is not accepted by insurance. The cost starts at $399 for our GLP-1 treatments. It is eligible for FSA/HSA coverage if that applies to you.
Brand-name semaglutide costs around $1,100 per month, while “Off-market” semaglutide injections from unregulated sources range from $500 to $650 per month. Although semaglutide is generally expensive due to high demand, our compounded film offers a safer, more affordable, and consistently available alternative. If you find a much lower price elsewhere, especially for injections, it’s essential to question the quality and safety of that product.
Compounding Transparency
Although ingredients we use in our compounds may be FDA-approved, compounded drugs themselves are not FDAapproved, and the FDA does not verify the safety or effectiveness of these medications, including our own.
As a compounding pharmacy, we operate under strict regulations and guidelines set by state pharmacy boards and the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), with additional oversight from the FDA and the DEA (for controlled substances).
